During Women's Big Cricket Month we made sure to keep busy!
We shared Daily Fact Files on the amazing Role Models we have involved in Cricket in Berkshire.
These ranged from school staff, pathway players to our new Female Pathway Manager - Beth Morgan! We were also very lucky to be able to share the amazing achievements of Lauren Bell.
Lauren grew up playing cricket for Hungerford CC and progressed through the Berkshire Age Groups from U11 all the way to the Senior Ladies. She now plays her county cricket for Middlesex CCC as well as representing the Southern Vipers in both the Kia Super League and the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy. During the 2020 season, Lauren was also included in the England Ladies Training Squad.
We were extremely lucky as Lauren then ran a Question and Answer session on our BCF instagram page!
Girls Taster Sessions were ran for: Thatcham Town Cricket Club, who look to enter the girls competitions in 2021!
Women's Taster Sessions were ran for: Crowthorne and Crown Wood and Finchampstead, both sessions saw turnouts of over 25 new players! The clubs both started a Women's Soft Ball team during WBCM.
Over the weekend of the 26th/27th September, we took advantage of the dry (yet very cold) weather and ran two very successful Women's Soft Ball Festivals with over 50 Women taking part across the weekend. These festivals included teams from: Binfield, Crowthorne and Crown Wood, Finchampstead, Sonning, Warfield, Wargrave and West Ilsley.
We had two clubs in Berkshire host the Home Counties Women's Cricket League Finals.
Henley hosted the Division 2 Final against Hitchin Cricket Club and Finchampstead hosted the Division 1 Final against Oxford Cricket Club. Congratulations to both Berkshire Clubs who were victorious on the day, and were named Home Counties Women's League Champions.
