Coach CPD session for those working with Women & Girls
Yesterday we hosted our first Women & Girls Club Coach Development Session led by the Berkshire CCC Women & Girls Performance Coaches. It was great to see 25 coaches in the room from across 15 of our Women & Girls Clubs. The session covered the 4 main areas of our performance framework - Athletic Development, Fielding, Batting & Bowling. We had some brilliant discussion about the technical & tactical aspects of these skills, provided some ideas on how to develop these in a club setting as well as looking at how/when to make interventions in a session. The coaches got involved trying out some of the practices for themselves as well as observing others that were demonstrated by some of our pathway players. The group also took the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss the problems faced & share solutions in the women & girls' game.
Some of the common themes were:
- How can we build confidence in female cricketers (specifically when moving to hardball)
- Ideas for warmups/athletic development/injury prevention in club sessions - The importance of this and how can we make this fun & specific to cricket?
- Differences between coaching male & female cricketers
