Raabia Awarded the 'Togetherness' Award
Raabia Akhter, one of our participation coaches, was awarded the BBC Berkshire Radio Make a Difference Awards. Raabia was awarded with the 'togetherness' award.
The togetherness award is awarded to an individual who has created change by breaking barriers and bringing people together from different walk of life.
Over the last 15 year I’ve been actively trying to make difference in Slough by feeding the homeless, working with the local hospital and care homes. Community fun days, winter project, go green project. Last 10 years running community sports sessions and using sports to break barriers, fun learning through sports such as life skills. Almost 7 years with BCF to bring cricket to the community and set up the girls and ladies' cricket at Slough CC.
I also had the opportunity to travel to Pakistan and work in an orphanage.
I plan to continue the community work in Slough and make a positive change to inspire other to do the same.
From everyone at Berkshire Cricket, we are extremely proud of what Raabia has achieved.
