Berkshire allrounder Euan Woods received his England Young Lions cap by David Graveney, chairman of the Young Lions selectors, before the first one-day game of their Indian tour.
Euan was the third man out, caught behind for two, but England made an excellent recovery from 13-3 to 256-7 in their 50 overs with Sussex batsman Delroy Rawlins making 107 not out off 88 balls. India Under-19s were then dismissed for 233 with Wood bowling one over for five runs.
But in the second of the five-match series, England were heavily defeated at the Mumbai CCI ground on Wednesday, February 1st.
India still posted a formidable total of 287-8 with Woods finishing with 1-54 off 10 overs. In reply, England slipped to 40-3. Woods (19 off 37 balls) and his Surrey team-mate Ollie Pope added 40 for the fourth wicket, but both fell in quick succession to leave England on 89-5. Rawlins hit 46 from 35 balls, but England were all out for 158 with more than 16 overs remaining.
