National Championship Final awaits
Berkshire Over 50s 2nd XI have made history by reaching the National Championship Final. The side captained by Sean Taylor of Henley CC finished third in their group consisting of Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and Kent, qualifying for the knock-out phase in fifteenth position. The round of 16 saw them travel to previously unbeaten Warwickshire who were the number 2 seeds and record a six wicket victory. The quarter final was played at Henley against Cornwall, who also had a 100% record. Batting first Berkshire posted 270 - 7 with Anup Urath scoring 121 from 94 deliveries. In reply Cornwall were bowled out for 122 with Steve Clarke taking 4 for 21.
The semi-final was also played at Henley CC against Nottinghamshire. Berkshire posted 205 for 9 with Pankaj Garg topping the scoring with 54. Notts could only manage 140 all out with Pete Henly (4-14) doing most of the damage.
The final against Essex will be played at Trowbridge CC on Friday 1st September, 11am start.
